Harry Truman, the vice president for Roosevelt, entered the office after his death. He then served two terms from 1945-1953, making him the 33rd president. While president, Truman told the people that he was going to guide the United States through the end of World War II. Truman took the oath and was officially in office one month before Germany's surrender. He was determined to end the war, and fix america afterwards.
